In the world of modern video games, the use of retro gameplay and graphic styles has emerged as a prominent trend, maintaining its appeal despite advancements in technology. This thesis project will explore this phenomenon, and dive into the reasons why modern video games often emulate retro graphic design aesthetics instead of pursuing innovative approaches. Also, by analyzing visual elements of old video games, combined with examining industry practices, player preferences, and cultural influences, this research aims to understand the motivations underlying this creative choice and delineate the defining characteristics of retro games

Thesis Statement:

This thesis will explore the visual style in retro video games through the creation of specific graphic design elements such as color palette, and pixel density. By examining how these elements contribute to the nostalgic experience of gaming, it aims to shed light on the enduring appeal of retro visuals and their significance in contemporary game development practices.
